The season concluded with an Easter Tour to Berlin, organised by Eric Sumner. After a defeat by the Combined Services and a win over the R.A.F. the tourists, in a carnival atmosphere, drew with the German league side, Brandenburger Lichterfelder.

On the day of the touring party's return journey to London, Mark Baddeley managed to acquire a manakin head from a German hairdressers. For reasons unknown, the bust became known as 'George'. Later at the airport, Fred Woolley proceeded to pull his coat up over his shoulders and lodge the bust between the neck. He then continued through customs...
