Weekend Round-Up: 3s end season with defeat
The OHAFC 3rd XI were finally able to put the 2025/26 season behind them, albeit with another defeat to add to their record - a tenth of the season.
A makeshift side cobbled together at the last minute performed admirably enough, pushing the Old Amplefordians all the way before eventually succumbing to a 4-2 defeat on a hard, bobbly surface in Chiswick.
The hosts took the lead from a long-range effort on the half-hour but Henry Bamford levelled midway through the second half following good work from Doug Pratt. The hosts then scored twice to take command, one of the goals from a very soft penalty.
The visitors continued to battle, however, and another very soft penalty decision in their favour allowed Pratt to step up and reduce the arrears to 3-2. But the Amplefordians were the better side and confirmed the points with the very last kick of the game, ensuring there would be no consolation victory for the Blues, who end the season bottom of Division Four with eight points from sixteen games played.
The final OHAFC team sheet and match report of the season - from a Saturday at least - are now available in the results section.
