Weekend Round-Up: 2s finish with win over Champions

21 Apr 2026

The OHAFC 2nd XI rounded off their 2025/26 season in style on Saturday with a strong performance to defeat the Old Sennockians on the Harrow School astroturf. Last weekend the side from Kent lifted the Junior League Cup to complete a League and Cup double, but the Division Three champions found themselves beaten in northwest London for just the third time this season.

Despite the rather makeshift nature of the Harrow XI, including veteran David Lederman playing in goal, the Blues deserved the three points for their efforts. A frantic first half saw Harry Bick open the scoring with a superb goal after just twelve minutes, curling a shot into the far top corner. Sennockians replied quickly, a long-range effort flying in at the near post past an unsighted Lederman. But the Blues responded and regained the lead ten minutes from the break when a quick short-corner routine caught the visitors napping, Will Payne’s low cross into the box turned into his own net by a Sennocks defender.

There was still time for further drama before the interval, Lederman producing a fine save to claw a header onto the bar before Giacomo Grasso was penalised for a foul inside the box. Fortunately, despite sending the Harrow keeper the wrong way, the Sennocks player sent his penalty wide of the post and the Harrow lead remained intact.

The second half proved a tougher affair for the home side as the Senncoks began to climb through the gears. Lederman produced another reaction save to preserve the lead, but five minutes later was beaten by a curled effort from the edge of the box that sailed into the far corner.

But the Blues would not be denied victory and another superb goal earned the points, James Walduck supplying a beautiful first-time finish into the far corner following good work from Andres Hutchinson.

The win ensures the Blues end the season with six victories to their name, the same number won last season, and a 5th or 6th place finish in Division Three. One final OHAFC fixture remains this campaign, with the 3s travelling to face the Old Amplefordians on Saturday, their fate having already been sealed.
