Weekend Round-Up: 3s relegated, 1s lose to Eton
This proved to be a miserable weekend for the club with the 1s hammered by the Etonians and the 3s' long-feared relegation into Division Five finally confirmed.
The 3rd XI knew that only victory over the Old Johnians 2s would allow them the chance of survival ahead of next weekend's season finale away to the Old Amplefordians. But a sloppy start saw the side fall two goals behind inside the first five minutes and they never recovered. Johnians scored from two corners either side of half-time and completed the rout with a breakaway goal in the final minute of the match.
The 3s will end the season bottom of Division Four having won just once this season.
The news from Feltham where the 1st XI were taking on the promotion-chasing Old Etonians was hardly any better as the Blues suffered a 4-0 defeat. Again, the Harrow side made a poor start and conceded two awful goals before the break, one from a set-piece, another from a long goal kick.
Although the visitors improved after half-time and came close to pulling a goal back, the Etonians held onto their lead and two goals in the final fifteen minutes ensured they earned consummate revenge for their defeat on the Hill back in January.
The 1s have two tricky away fixtures remaining but appear to be safe from the drop barring unlikely victories for two of the sides below them.
