Weekend Round-Up: 2s promotion hopes ended
The OHAFC 2s and 3s both returned to League action on Saturday but neither could source victory from their tough assignments.
The OHAFC 2s saw their promotion hopes realistically ended after a 3-1 defeat at home to Division Three leaders the Old Albanians. An early goal on the Harrow astro settled visitor nerves but the hosts threw everything at their opponents in a tightly-fought contest and remained in the game until the final twenty minutes when two goals in the space of three minutes saw the Albanians confirm their own promotion credentials. A late consolation from Ben Harrison proved the only moment of joy for the hosts.
There was better news from Essex where the OHAFC 3s boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop from Division Four with a hard-fought but richly deserved point away to the Old Brentwoods 4s. The visitors fell behind early on but were then gifted a way back into the game when the Brentwoods skipper was sent off for arguing with the referee.
Felix Tritton headed the visitors level prior to half-time and the Blues were the better side for the remainder of the game but had to settle for a point as both sides scored once more in the second half - the hosts from a free-kick, the visitors from the spot, Adam Graham converting after a handball inside the box. The same player then came mightily close to earning the OHAFC the win when his turn and volley sent the ball crashing into the Brentwoods crossbar late on.
Team sheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
