Weekend Round-Up: 1s sink into the relegation mire
Both the 1s and 2s suffered defeat this weekend, the 1st XI now deep in trouble at the foot of Divsion One.
After last weekend's encouraging point at home to the Old Kimboltonians, the OHAFC 1s travelled north to Essex to face another promotion chasing side in the form of the Old Chigwellians.
And this proved a rather trickier affair as, despite a decent enough performance, the visitors fell behind to two goals in quick succession midway through the first half before finally seeing any hopes of a comeback dashed when the hosts snatched a controversial third with twenty minutes remaining.
Defeat leaves the Blues ninth in Division One and with three fixtures remaining - two against the leaders the Old Brentwoods - the side will require at least one more win to ensure survival.
Although the OHAFC 2nd XI have little to play for, sitting comfortably in mid-table in Division Three, it was still disappointing to suffer a 2-1 defeat at home to the Old Haberdashers on the Hill.
In a scrappy game, played on a heavy pitch, the visitors took an early lead through a deflected shot only for the hosts to level from the spot five minutes later, skipper Tristan David converting after a Max Curry cross had been handled by a defender.
The visitors were temporarily reduced to ten men at the start of the second half when one player was sent to the sin bin for arguing with the referee. But the hosts couldn't take advantage and although one scare was survived when Habs struck the post from a breakaway, there was no such reprieve soon afterwards, a similar move ending with a low shot being fired past keeper Rory Craig.
Both sides now enjoy a week off before resuming their fixtures.
