Weekend Round-Up: 1s & 2s both record vital wins
For the first time this season, both the OHAFC 1st and 2nd XIs won on the same weekend.
Two goals from Chester Robinson helped the 1s hold on to record a 3-2 victory over the Old Salopians on the Hill, lifting the Blues five points clear of the relegation zone. The hosts began to dominate midway through the first half and hit the bar twice in quick succession, both times Robinson the unlucky player not to score. But a deflected cross from James Walduck earned the breakthrough and two fine efforts from Robinson in the space of five minutes early in the second half put the hosts in control: the first was a superb long-range effort from 30 yards out that flew into the top corner, the second a precise finish from just inside the box.
The Salopians pulled a goal back with just under twenty minutes remaining but they were made to wait until the 87th minute before they scored their second and the Blues held on despite some late pressure from their opponents.
A couple of hours later down in Chiswick, the OHAFC 2nd XI became the first side this season to defeat the Old Berkhamstedians 2s in Division Three, recording a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Miles Kellock and Andy Hutchinson.
The game was a tight, tense affair with little to excite those watching on from the sides, but a neat move midway through the first half allowed Kellock to fire in from the edge of the box and Hutchinson doubled the advantage on the hour, finishing from an acute angle after the keeper had palmed away an effort from Tristan David.
The hosts pulled a goal back with twenty minutes remaining but the visitors held firm with some determined defending to record a vital win that keeps the 2s firmly in the promotion mix.
