Weekend Round-Up: 3s within sight of safety
The OHAFC 3rd XI almost certainly secured their safety in Division Four this weekend with a hard-fought but fully deserved 1-0 win at home to Lancing Old Boys 2s on the Harrow astroturf in their final fixture of the season. Ed Stewart, in his first appearance of the season, scored the only goal of the game, bundling in from close range following an excellent run from Olly Roberts. The 3s held on comfortably enough to secure their third League win of the season and three points that requires both Lancing and the Old King's Scholars to win their remaining games if they are to overhaul the OHAFC in a bid to stay up. Given both sides' fixtures, this appears hugely unlikely.
Meanwhile, the OHAFC 2nd XI were involved in a very different kind of game prior the 3s kicking off. In an extraordinary fixture against Division Two leaders the Old Johnians, the Blues led 1-0, 2-1 and, with twenty minutes remaining, 5-4. But the visitors would not be denied, scoring three times in the closing quarter of an hour, their powerful centre-forward ending up with six of the seven goals.
Team sheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
