Weekend Round-Up: 3s earn superb late win
The OHAFC 3s secured a dramatic late win away to the Old Wellingtonians on Saturday, Tobi Adebayo scoring an 87th minute winner before Henry Collins produced a superb save moments later to ensure the Blues held onto their lead.
A hard-fought first half ended goalless before the two sides traded headers at the start of the second, Adebayo with the first of his two goals. Another Wellington header saw the hosts take the lead, but Ed Stewart then produced a spectacular overhead kick to level once again.
The stage was set for Adebayo to race onto Olly Roberts' through ball and poke past the onrushing keeper before Collins produced a magnificent diving save moments later, tipping a firm header past the post. The win lifts the 3s into third in Division Four.
Meanwhile, the OHAFC 2s earned an excellent point away to Chigwellians 2s in Essex to extend their unbeaten run to four games. Pablo Hutchinson, on his first appearance of the season, fired the visitors into an early lead, the hosts levelling ten minutes later.
Miles Kellock then struck a superb second five minutes into the second half, latching onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and firing a left-foot half-volley powerfully into the bottom corner. The Blues couldn't hold on however, conceding with ten minutes remaining, despite a superb performance in goal from Rory Craig. The side drop one place to sixth in Division Two.
For the OHAFC 1s, the less said about their efforts in the Arthur Dunn Cup the better: the vast majority of the squad failed to travel down to Dorset for the first round tie against the Old Shirburnians and a makeshift eleven including three goalkeepers were duly beaten 5-1. Jamie Jordache scored Harrow's goal.
