Weekend Round-Up: 2s throw away 100% record
All three OHAFC sides struggled on the second weekend of the League season, with the 1st and 3rd XIs losing for the second week running and the 2nd XI throwing away a glorious chance to claim a second win when they conceded twice in the final five minutes at home to the Old Alleynians 3s.
For the second week running, the OHAFC 1st XI wasted a strong first half display, conceding twice just before the break away to the Old Radleians on the astroturf in Whitton. Although debutant Charles Edu pulled a goal back with a superb solo effort with fifteen minutes remaining, the hosts made sure of the points with a late effort from a set-piece.
Meanwhile on the Hill, the OHAFC 2nd XI were left to rue a disastrous final five minutes as they threw away a seemingly impregnable two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to the Old Alleynians 3s. In a tight affair, second half efforts from Spencer Crawley and joint-skipper Tristan David appeared to have sealed a valuable win for the Blues. But the Alleynians scored a fortuitous first with five minutes remaining and then, with the ninety minutes almost up, a poor back pass from Miles Kellock allowed the visitors' striker to nip in, round keeper Rory Craig and slot home to send the Alleynians wild with delight.
There was considerably less drama on the adjacent pitch where the OHAFC 3rd XI fell to a second consecutive defeat, ending the day well beaten by a strong Old Tonbridgians 2s side. The visitors took the lead on the half-hour mark courtesy of a superb strike by their winger and made sure of the points with a header from a free-kick ten minutes later.
