Weekend Round-Up: 2s return to winning ways
There were mixed results for the three OHAFC sides this weekend as the Arthurian League season enters its' final stretch.
The 1st XI fell to a frustrating 2-1 defeat at home to the Old Wykehamists on the Harrow School astroturf. The hosts were forced to play with ten men for the opening twenty minutes when one of the squad failed to show. This meant an unexpected run out for veteran David Lederman, who had arrived to watch prior to playing for the 2s at Haberdashers and played the remaining seventy minutes in a bid to even the numbers. His early mistake was clinically punished with a fine chip from thirty yards out to give the visitors the lead, but Charlie Bick equalised from the spot early in the second half following a foul on Ciaran Jordan. But the Wykehamists snatched all three points with a fine free-kick twenty minutes from time.
There was better news up at Habs however, as the 2s returned to winning ways with an excellent 3-1 victory. Alexi Pittalis headed the visitors in front from Lederman's early corner, but the points were only assured when Max Curry headed home a cross from Jack Dolbey early in the second half before David Griffiths fired in from a corner soon afterwards. Habs quickly pulled a goal back and piled on the pressure late on but the visitors held firm to earn a much-needed win.
The OHAFC 3rd XI endured a tough time out in Essex when they fell to a disappointing 7-2 defeat against the Old Brentwoods 3s. Two early goals put the visitors on the back foot and a missed penalty and early injury to skipper Joss Awdry only added to the problems. Freddie Everett and Adam Graham scored the visitors' goals but the home side ran out comfortable winners.
Team sheets and match reports from the three games are now available in the results section.
