Weekend Round-Up: 2s beat leaders in style
The OHAFC 1st and 2nd XIs suffered wildly contrasting fortunes on Saturday morning.
The 2s travelled north to face Division Three leaders the Old Merchant Taylors and found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break following a disappointing half. But in an extraordinary ten minute spell after half-time, the Blues scored four times to completely turn the game on its head. Alexi Pittalis headed in the first, Owain James scored the second, Tristan David added the third from the spot and Max Curry delivered the fourth.
Taylors responded with two late goals of their own to reduce the arrears to 4-3 and set up a tense finale. But having withheld considerable pressure, the visitors broke upfield in the final seconds, James converting his second of the game to see the Blues home to a fine 5-3 victory that lifts the team into second in the table.
The OHAFC 1s did not enjoy their morning on the Harrow School astroturf quite as much however, falling to a 4-0 defeat against a strong Old Salopians side. The Blues trailed 1-0 at the break to a fine long-range effort and a second, equally precise finish ten minutes into the second half put the result beyond doubt. Two late goals confirmed the visitors' superiority.
Both sides close their 2023/24 seasons this Saturday.
