Weekend Round-Up: 1st XI stun Wimbledon
The OHAFC 1st XI stunned KCS Wimbledon to record their first win of the season on Saturday - their first League win since February 2020.
A George Gould goal in either half proved sufficient to secure the three points, with the Blues indebted to skipper Fraser McGuinness for some heroic goalkeeping late on as the hosts threw everything at the OHAFC in a bid to rescue a point. But the visitors held on to spark scenes of wild celebration at the final whistle.
The emotions down at Imber Court could not have been in greater contrast to those endured by the OHAFC 3s up on the Hill. Set fair for a vital win over the struggling Wellingtonians, the 3s looked fully in command protecting a 1-0 lead courtesy of a superb strike from Khalil Baoku. But in the final minute of the game, a cross from out wide was inadvertently turned into his own net by Will Monroe, under pressure from a Wellington forward.
For the second time this season, the Blues were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with their opponents, conceding a last-minute goal on both occasions.
The team sheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
