Weekend Round-Up: 1s and 2s both earn fine wins
The OHAFC 1st and 2nd XIs both recorded excellent wins on Saturday to kick-start their fledgling seasons. Disappointingly, however, the 3s fixture against the Amplefordians was called off at late notice, the visitors unable to raise a side.
On a scorching hot day, the OHAFC 1s began their Division One campaign with a 4-2 win against the newly-promoted Old Malvernians. Goals from George Taylor and Alfie Hayes earned the hosts a 2-1 lead at the break. Despite the visitors levelling early in the second half, midfielder Luke Berry, who enjoyed an excellent game, popped up with two goals in the closing half-hour to secure the win for the Blues.
It proved to be even more comfortable for the 2s, who eased to a relatively mundane 6-2 win away to the Old Shirburnians on the astroturf in Hampton. Debutant Owain James took advantage of some slack defending from the hosts to score twice in the first half, with substitute Adam Graham then picking up the slack and scoring twice more himself. Skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins and winger Tristan David, from the spot, completed the scoring.
Team sheets and reports from both games are now available in the results section.
