Weekend Round-Up: 1s & 2s taste defeat
Both the OHAFC 1st & 2nd XIs suffered disappointing defeats on Saturday courtesy of slow starts to their respective fixtures. Despite both sides producing excellent comebacks late on, the damage was already done and neither was able to claim a point.
The 1s were blitzed by an excellent Alleynians side on the Harrow astroturf, conceding five times in the first half under a sustained assault. But the hosts recovered well after the interval to score three times themselves, substitutes Doug Morrison (2) and Arthur Leney with the goals.
The 2s got off to an even slower start away to the Old Radleians, also of the artificial turf, down in Twickenham. The visitors found themselves 3-0 down inside a quarter of an hour, the Radleians producing some clinical finishing. Miles Kellock pulled one back shortly before the break, but another long-range effort saw the hosts re-establish their three-goal lead immediately afterwards.
The game appeared to be petering out to a comfortable win for the hosts but a frantic closing fifteen minutes saw four goals fly in, three of them for the visitors. John Portal scored twice from close range, Lederman converting a penalty in between. But the Radleians secured the win courtesy of yet another superb finish - a curler from edge of the box that flew into the top corner.
Team sheets and match reports from both games are now available in the results section.
