Vets thumped by Lancing on return to action
After a three week hiatus, the OHAFC Vets returned to action with possibly the hardest fixture in their calendar, the visit of Lancing to Roehampton.
Last year's Derrick Moore Vets Cup winners provided a stern test as expected and the home side were not helped with a shortage of players: several debutants were fielded, with varying degrees of success.
Lancing were denied a penalty after only five minutes but scored twice before the break to emphasise their superiority.
The start of the second half proved to be more interesting however. Harrow skipper John Wyn-Evans bravely but probably correctly awarded his side a penalty after Lederman's cross was handled by a defender, the winger converting the spot-kick himself.
The visitors regained their two-goal lead shortly afterwards but Harrow struck back thanks to a fine move involving Andy Butler and Dom Danos, whose cross from the right was turned in by Manuel da Souza a few yards out.
Unfortunately Lancing's superior fitness told and in the last twenty minutes they raised their performance and stretched away, scoring four times to make the final score 7-2.
The Vets have an early opportunity to get back to winning ways with the visit of Winchester next week. Hopefully weather conditions during the week will allow the pitch to recover somewhat, given it's already boggy state.
