Vets return to Cup final thanks to Lancing win

6 Mar 2017

The OHAFC Veterans reached their second consecutive Derrick Moore Veterans Cup final and fourth in six seasons with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lancing at the Bank of England Ground on Sunday morning.

Defences were on top for much of the first half with chances few and far between. Harrow opened the scoring on the half-hour when Ed Poulter played a lovely through-ball for Quentin Baker to run onto and round the 'keeper.

The second half was a more open affair as players tired and spaces opened up. Lancing levelled fortuitously however when a long throw was scrambled in at the near post courtesy of a deflection.

But with twenty minutes remaining Harrow broke upfield at pace, Baker feeding Harry Hoffen and he squared for Lederman to turn in.

The hosts had to dig deep in the closing stages to hold on but did so deservedly to reach their second consecutive Cup final. They will face either Forest or Cholmeleians in the final on April 9th.
