Vets finally exit Cup in delayed semi-final

26 Mar 2018

An hour-long delay at the start of Sunday's semi-final against the Old Malvernians proved crucial to the OHAFC Veterans' chances of making their sixth Cup final in the last seven seasons.

With Malvern's kit stuck on the North Circular road, Sunday's tie didn't get underway until past midday and for half an hour Harrow were all over the place, fortunate to be only 2-0 down.

A soft penalty gave the side a route back into the game and when skipper John Wyn-Evans equalised with a fine stooping header just before the hour-mark, an unlikely win seemed possible.

But the Malvernians' greater strength in depth proved the decisive factor and they outscored the OHAFC 4-2 in the final half-hour to progress to April's final courtesy of a 6-4 win. Paul Molloy and Dom Danos, with his second, were the other Harrow scorers.

It was an excellent effort from a patched up Harrow side - Tim Dalton was forced off with injury just five minutes into Sunday's game and both goalkeeper Jon Ingram and Charlie Tweddle suffered groin strains that severely hampered their efforts.

Sunday's team lineup and match report are now available in the results section here.
