Vets Cup Preview: The road to Roehampton starts here!
The OHAFC Vets begin their defence of the Derrick Moore Veterans Cup on Sunday lunchtime with the difficult task of travelling down to Brighton to face 2011 winners Lancing.
The side is severely handicapped by the confirmed absence of two star names Quentin Baker and Harry Hoffen through inuury and the fitness doubts surrounding Harry's brother Rupert.
Nevertheless, John Wyn-Evns has compiled a squad of fourteen to make the trip and they should at least be assured of a fine surface on which to play the game, the pitches at Lancing College normally used to train on by Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion.
Last season saw the OHAFC win the Veterans Cup for the first time in club history with three emphatic victories, the first two away to Charterhouse and Shrewsbury before a 3-0 win in the final over Forest at the Bank of England ground.
One man who should make his debut for the side following his recent eligibility is utility player Dom Danos, who was previously more at home in a defensive role but this season has more often than not found himself used as a striker.
The full squad charged with eliminating one of their major rivals for the cup is as follows:
Wyn-Evans (c), Butler (gk), Morley-Fletcher, Warner, Baddeley, Feather, Lederman, Thorn, Waugh, Danos, Walduck, Hoffen R, Tindall
