Tristan David clings on to win Fantasy League!

6 Jun 2024

2nd XI winger and long-time leader Tristan David clung on to clinch the 2024 OHAFC Fantasy League title by just seven points from 3s midfielder Ed Stewart in a tense final weekend of Premier League action both on and off the pitch.

Having led from early on in the season, 'Trizza' went into the final round of matches just five points ahead of his nearest challenger, with third placed Fraser McGuinness seemingly out of contention a further 54 points further back.

And that's the way the standings remained, with Tristan's final round total of 62 two points more than his closest challenger could muster - handing his Espresso Martinelli side the title by seven points with a final total of 2,471pts - enough for an overall ranking just outside the top 130,000 players in the world - a very decent return considering over 11 million teams were entered this season.

Tristan joins the famous list of previous OHAFC winners, taking over from the reigning champ Charlie Stebbings - who finished fifth this time around - and Ed Poulter, who won the two seasons prior to that, claiming the highest ever score for an OH team in 2022 with 2,582pts.

Anson Lo was the unfortunate recipient of the wooden spoon, placing last with a paltry total of 1,644pts - although just how diligently he selected his team each week is open to question. A record total of 33 players entered the OHAFC League this season and the fun will begin again in August when the new Premier League season is upon us.

Congratulations to Tristan for his win and commiserations to everyone else; remember...there's always next season!
