Scarborough screamer earns 1s a lifeline

5 Mar 2017

A superb late strike from midfielder Nick Scarborough earned the OHAFC 1st XI a vital 2-1 win at home to second-placed Forest on Saturday, in the process ensuring their fight against relegation will continue for another week at least.

A tight game saw the hosts take an early lead courtesy of a neat flicked finish from leading scorer Alex Gilbert. Forest then missed a penalty following a controversial incident involving left-back Hamish MacIntyre.

The second half saw the visitors force the issue and the Harrow rearguard straining to prevent an equaliser. It finally came thanks to some excellent work down the Harrow left.

But in a tense finale it was the Blues who scored the winner thanks to excellent persistence from Gilbert in keeping a throw in play before cutting the ball back for Nick Scarborough to curl powerfully into the far top corner.

Although the side remain bottom, the next two fixtures see Harrow face the teams directly above them in the table knowing that two wins will give them a reasonable chance of survival.
