Saunders becomes youngest ever OHAFC player
16 year-old goalkeeper Harison Saunders became the youngest ever player to represent the club on Saturday when he played the full ninety minutes of the 1st XI's 0-0 draw away to the Old Marlburians in Twickenham.
Despite the 1s being the only OHAFC side in action, a goalkeeping crisis meant that all of the usual - and even some of the more unusual - options were unavailable for selection.
Harison was approached by the club after several members saw him in action for the school 1st XI last week in the Boodles Cup at Eton. That game saw him unable to prevent the Harrow side from slipping to a 3-0 defeat but on Saturday the youngster played excellently to help the OHAFC 1st XI to its first clean sheet in 15 games.
Whilst Harison is by no means the first schoolboy to represent the club, he is the youngest at just 16 years 293 days. Other notable schoolboys to have played for the club in recent times include Dan Firoozan, Harry Hoffen and David Lederman.
Indeed, Firoozan, who has now played fifteen times for the 1st XI, made his debut in a game at Charterhouse towards the end of the 2013/14 season alongside two other schoolboys, Miles Kellock and Mo Shah (pictured above).
Congratulations to Harison on his achievement and an excellent debut in OHAFC colours.
