OHAFC Fantasy League: October update

3 Nov 2015

Last night's comfortable win for the mighty Spurs over Aston Villa rounded off the final set of fixtures for October and so once again it's time to check on the standings in the OHAFC Fantasy League.

At the end of September, Ludo Callander enjoyed a healthy 25 point lead over his nearest challenger Ollie Bunting, with Alex Smith, Theo Gordon and Ed Poulter in third, fourth and fifth respectively, separated by a point apiece and within 40 points of the leader.

With eleven of 38 game weeks now completed, the top two remain the same in the standings but Ludo has extended his lead from 25 points to 39. Indeed, Ludo is not only top, but he also garnered more points in October than anyone else, scoring 279 over the four game weeks. Ludo's 'Mo Mane Mo Problems' team contains the by-now mandatory selections of Mahrez, Payet, Sanchez and Vardy, currently augmented by strikers Pelle and Kane, midfielder Raheem Sterling and Stoke 'keeper Jack Butland, who has been in superb form on the field and consistently earning big points off it.

That Callander and Bunting remain the top two is little surprise, with both players sharing no fewer than seven of their first-choice starting XI's in the last game week. Ollie now stands on 589 points, having not figured in the top five scorers over October.

Of the group of three players sitting behind the top two at the end of September, only Theo Gordon has maintained his title-charge. Theo moves into third on 568 points, having scored the fifth highest number of points in the month.

There then follows another group of three closely-matched players behind Theo, with Messrs Igbokwe, Howells and Lederman all separated by just two points in positions fourth through sixth.

Alex Cater, who scored the joint highest number of points in October alongside Ludo Callander, moves up to ninth, with Alec Fogarty, who scored 264 points in the month, up to seventh overall.

At the bottom, it's a case of 'Wrong Said Fred' with Freddie Brunt and Fred Milln both cutting a sorry tale. Brunt's obsession with selecting Spurs players regardless of how they're playing means he is marooned at the foot of the table on 421 points; at least he has now transferred out Clinton N'Jie, one of the strangest selections ever seen in the game.

Fred Milln is just two points ahead of Brunt, his continued selection of Diego Costa proving that sometimes love really is blind. And slow. And incapable of hitting a cow's...you know the rest.

Next update - start of December, when the festive period can see big weekly points totals and players change positions in the League frequently.
