October Goal of the Month winners
The first ever OHAFC Goal of the Month winners are announced today with each team receiving an award. An overall Club Goal of the Month will be announced in the next few days.
For the 1st XI, an effort from leading scorer Harry Hoffen was unsurprisingly chosen as the best of the month. His opener in the 4-2 home win over Malvern on October 12th was a fine goal, Harry latching onto a 40-yard Lederman through-ball down the inside left channel and lobbing the onrushing 'keeper from the edge of the box with a precise first touch.
The 2nd XI only scored twice in the month - their third goal coming courtesy of an opposition player - so the award came down to a straight choice between Dave Stead's header in the 3-1 home defeat to Epsom and Max Curry's last-minute scrambled winner against Winchester, both following long throws from Alex Cater. Despite the latter goal being far more important, Stead's header was of greater quality and was therefore chosen as the 2nd XI's inaugural Goal of the Month.
The 3rd XI got their season off to a sticky start with two heavy defeats but bounced back in style on October 26th with a fine 3-2 win at Old Brentwoods. Architect of the victory was none other than Oli Malin-Hyams who scored two excellent goals, the second of which was a clear winner for the 3's Goal of the Month, an astonishing 35-yard lob which landed in the top left corner leaving the 'keeper with no chance.
Congratulations to our three winners, the overall Club Goal of the Month will be announced in the next few days - all player comments and votes are welcome!
