New Year - New Fantasy League leader
As the calendar turned over to 2014, so did the leadership of the OHAFC Fantasy Premier League as the busy Christmas period saw no less than four gameweeks crammed into barely two weeks' worth of action.
Longtime kingpin Alex Cater, with his controversial team name of 'You for coffee?' (a simple and friendly invitation to the uninitiated), has been replaced at the top of the tree by fellow 2nd XI squad member Anthony Beresford, whose 'Best Name Evra' squad, despite not even having the best name in the OHAFC League, has performed consistently well in the last month.
Beresford sits on 1,254 points going into the first round of games of 2014, nine clear of Cater in second. Conti von Hirsch (Uncle Conti's Champs), another 2nd XI player and, like Beresford, another new entrant to the League this season, sits in third on 1,176.
The top six is rounded off with Jack MacDonald (JackMac), Oliver Hadden-Paton (Drew Peacock FC) and last season's runner-up Dave Stead (Faith in Moyesiah) - although how much faith young David has in his 'Moyesiah' right now would be interesting to know.
Last season's champion is lurking menacingly in seventh, Lederman's 'THIS IS MICHU' squad poised, ready to strike like a coiled cobra who's just been told there's a mouse shortage in his locality.
At the other end of the table 2's skipper Jack Orr-Ewing's 'Juantastic' squad are proving pretty 'juabbish' with a paltry 780 points leaving him over 100 behind his best friend Jonathan Best's 'Oh Beahaverrmen', possibly some sort of tribute to that well-known football pundit Austin Powers.
Groovy baby...very groovy...
