'Meet the League' at the Hack & Hop
A 'Meet the League' evening was held last night in the upstairs area of the Hack & Hop pub, London EC4. The event was hosted by League Chairman Will Hoyle and President Tony Hall. The OHAFC contingent consisted of Club Secretary Harry Woolley and 2nd XI captain Jack Orr-Ewing - two members who were unable to attend Tuesday night training owing to various ailments. The latter a minor niggle, the former still referring to doctors letters dating back to 2009.
The League didn't disappoint. A free bar tab accompanied by an array of savoury delights: an assortment of sausages, scotch eggs, various breaded 'treats' and chips. Orr-Ewing tucked into his food with gusto, eager to reclaim seven years’ worth of yellow card fines from his rapidly diminishing pork slice.
General conversation included discussions about the amount of match day administration for captains, the attraction of the Arthurian League to new referees and the impending League website release in partnership with OHAFC code writer, Felix Fu.
Towards the end of the evening the Harrow pair found themselves chatting to the Old Kings Wimbledon II 'keeper (and captain) who whittered on about his admiration for the OHAFC website and entertained strange comments such as "that Azhar is a hell of a player" and "we need more people like Azhar in our squad". Orr-Ewing and Woolley agreed the Kings stopper had been looking a bit pale earlier in the evening.
The object of the Arthurian League: "To foster and maintain friendship amongst competing clubs". Evenings such as last night will certainly help to uphold this principle.
