Makeshift 1st XI thrashed 7-0 by leaders Charterhouse
Despite the best efforts of several younger members of the club, who willingly travelled down to Charterhouse in order to help a severely-depleted 1's squad, the OHAFC 1st XI were embarrassingly beaten 7-0 by the League leaders.
Skipper Ed Poulter saw availability for this fixture decimated after last week's Dunn Cup semi-final defeat, with several players out injured and several others unavailable. With no 2nd XI player willing to help, despite their home game being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, three youngsters made their 1's debuts, Rowley Higgs turned out for the first time in years and Harry Hoffen, having played barely half an hour of football this season, asked to perform for the full ninety minutes in a lone striker's role up front.
The patched up twelve performed creditably, conceding after only five minutes but then holding out until just before the break. Two goals either side of half-time killed the match as a contest and with Chaterhouse able to call on 14 fit, motivated first-teamers, the contrast between the two groups could not have been starker.
The result, predictable as it was, is a clear warning to the club that all is not well.
