Lederman set for 200 appearances milestone
OHAFC stalwart David Lederman will this weekend reach a significant milestone when he becomes the first player in the club to reach 200 appearances since official statistics began to be kept from the start of the 2009/10 season. The midfielder will mark his double century in a high-profile Division Two clash away to the Old Etonians 2s, with the respective 1st XIs meeting afterwards in the first round of the Arthur Dunn Cup.
The 45 year-old still regularly turns out for the 2nd XI, having retired from first team football at the end of the 2015/16 season, and still possesses (nearly) as much enthusiasm for playing as he did when he made his debut for the club, all the way back in the 1992/3 season whilst still a schoolboy.
Given the number of appearances accumulated over the previous ten seasons, and an almost unblemished injury record during his career, it is safe to assume the former winger has actually racked up over 500 appearances for the OHAFC, in addition to a lengthy Rep team career that spanned nearly twenty years.
His numbers in the last ten and a bit seasons include 137 1st XI appearances (43 goals), 59 2nd XI appearances (18 goals) and 3 3rd XI appearances. His tally of 61 goals is only surpassed by three players, Gbeminiyi Soyinka (95), James Breeden (69) and Alex Smith (68), all of whom are still playing.
Interestingly, Lederman will be joined in the 2s side on Saturday by the players that sit second and third in the club appearance charts since the 2009/10 season, with club legend Harry Woolley (142 appearances) and Jack Orr-Ewing (120 appearances) also travelling to Eton. 2s skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins sits eighth on the list having made 110 OHAFC appearances in his career, whilst Alex Breeden, who will be skippering the 1s in their Dunn Cup tie in the absence of Fraser McGuinness, is currently fourth with a hugely impressive 119 career appearances.
Good luck to all those players and many congratulations to ‘Leders’ on his double century!
