Lack of goals again costs the 1st XI dearly

15 Dec 2014

The OHAFC 1st XI continue to struggle to find the net and on Saturday, in a vital clash with the Old Salopians, it was sufficient to see them fall to a narrow 1-0 defeat that confirms their place among the weaker teams in the Premier Division.

The hosts played well for the opening half an hour and were unfortunate not to earn a penalty when a strong challenge through the back of Alex Breeden left him on the ground in a heap.

But the second half, as has proven the case in the past few games, saw Harrow struggle to maintain the cohesion in their play and the Salopians' early goal always looked likely to prove sufficient.

The fact that Harrow's best effort was a 40-yard shot by Lederman that had to be tipped over the bar says much about the paucity of the team's attacking threat at the moment.

The side now travel to Brentwood for their final game of 2014 in a huge fixture for both teams. The losers will begin the new year looking up at much of the rest of the division.

A brief match report plus team lineup from Saturday is now available in the Results section.
