Fred Richardson & Harry Hoffen join '100 Club'
Following Alex Breeden's 100th career OHAFC appearance against the Old Reptonians a few weeks ago, two other 1st XI stars have since reached the magic figure over the past ten seasons.
Although it was another unhappy day out for the team, former 1s' vice-captain Fred Richardson made his 100th career appearance for the club in the 5-1 loss at Alleynians ten days ago.
'Reg', who recently became the latest OHAFC player to tie the knot, joined the club just in time for the 2009/10 season and played in 12 of the side's 16 games on the way to winning the Premier Division title.
He has been a consistent member of the team through all the ups and downs over the past nine seasons and was named vice-captain to Ed Poulter in both the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.
Following Reg's ascent to three figures, veteran striker Harry Hoffen then achieved 100 appearances for the club since the start of the 2009/10 season when he played in the narrow 2-1 loss to the Old Malvernians on Saturday.
Of course, having been one of the leading strikers in the Arthurian League for many years, Harry has made far more than the 100 appearances recorded. His scoring rate, although diminishing in recent seasons, remains highly impressive and, despite reaching official veteran status over five years ago, still sits at 58 from the hundred games played.
Indeed in the last ten seasons (including the current one), only Gbeminiyi Soyinka (92) and David Lederman (60) have scored more times for the club - both their tallies include a number of penalties - and Harry is the only player whose goals have been exclusively for the 1st XI.
Harry continues to aid the 1st XI whenever needed and has been a vital cog in the recent successes of the Vets XI, with further silverware the aim in the coming seasons.
Congratulations to both players on reaching three figures since 2009/10 - a feat achieved by only nine players.
