Gritty win helps 1s tighten grip on promotion
Despite having a second-half penalty saved, James Breeden scored one and elder brother Alex helped create another as the OHAFC 1st XI came from behind to secure a vital 2-1 win at home to the Old Berkhamstedians on Saturday.
In a tight, dour game played in tricky condition on the Hill, the visitors took the lead from the spot midway through the half following an unfortunate handball by Mike Okoigun.
But the hosts hit back when a flowing move culminated in Alex Breeden crossing from the right and a Berkhamsted defender diverting the ball past his keeper and into his own net. The Blues didn't have to wait long to take the lead, Yunus Sert's far post header from a corner poked in by James Breeden at the far post a few minutes before the break.
Despite Breeden seeing his spot-kick saved, following a trip on Dan Firoozan inside the box, the Blues held on in an uninspiring second half to clinch the points and tighten their grip on second spot in Division One.
The side now enjoy a four-week break before their next fixture against the Old Cholmeleians.
