Gillian Whitmee (1936 - 2023)

Our members will be sad to learn that Gillian died last week, peacefully at home after a short illness. She will be remembered with great affection by all those who knew her, either as their house matron or as a loyal OHAFC touchline supporter and first aider. Gillian was the Club’s only Honorary Life Member and a regular helper in the Charles Alcock Pavilion on match days. She will be sorely missed.

Gillian came to Harrow in 1983 and was a much-loved Matron on the Hill for many years, dedicating her life to the School, and, most especially, to the boys in her care. She was Matron of Rendalls from 1983 to 2001, standby Matron from 2002 to 2005 and Matron of Druries from 2005 to 2010.

There will be a private family funeral and it is proposed that a memorial service will be held later in the year to celebrate her life at Harrow. We will share details as soon as we have the information.
