Fixture venue error costs 1st XI dearly

3 Oct 2017

A disastrous mix-up over the venue of their fixture with the Old Bradfieldians saw the OHAFC 1st XI travel all the way down to Bradfield College on Saturday - only to be told the game was in fact being played on an astroturf surface in Twickenham.

The squad returned to London but having arrived an hour late were informed the match could only last 70 minutes.

The two hours of travelling and lack of any warm-up understandably hurt the visitors and they performed poorly throughout, unable to find their rhythm on the artificial surface and making too many defensive lapses.

Bradfield ran out 5-3 winners with Harrow goals coming from skipper Yunus Sert (his first ever OHAFC goal), Josh Asdejokun (also with his debut OHAFC goal) and James Breeden.

Saturday's team lineup and match report can now be found in the results section here.

Next weekend sees the 1s host Aldenham on the Hill in their first home fixture of the season still seeking their first victory.
