Ed Poulter crowned Fantasy League champion

28 May 2015

1st XI skipper Ed Poulter was this week crowned the 2014/15 OHAFC Fantasy League champion after seeing off a pair of close challenges over the last few weeks of the season.

Ed's 'Dislecksicks' side finished with an excellent total of 2,208 points, sufficient to see him placed 8,000th in the overall game in which there are several million players and the winning score was 2,470.

'Poults' saw off the challenge of both Alec Fogarty (You Can't Handle the Huth, 2nd, 2,125pts) and Conti von Hirsch, a regular high-placed finisher in recent seasons (Uncle Conti's Champs, 3rd, 2,114pts).

The top six was rounded off by Sam Maynard, Alex Smith and Fred Coleridge-Cole, with all three of their teams amassing over 2,000 points, the benchmark for a decent fantasy season.

At the other end, Azhar Khan's 'Khantastic United' proved to be anything but, with a paltry 1,219 points to his name and clearly the worst team in the League, although just how much attention Azhar was paying is debatable: his last squad included Angel di Maria and, more astonishingly, Yaya Sanogo, who even Crystal Palace fans have admitted is terrible.

Charlie Walsh's 'Moneygang' finished second bottom, proving that money can buy many things but not success in Fantasy League.

Thanks to everyone for playing this season and see you again in 2015/16!
