Dinner takes it's toll on Vets as Lancing run riot
Less than 48 hours after the mayhem that was the OHAFC Dinner at the Hurlingham Club, the Veterans XI took to the field for a re-arranged friendly against a Lancing side they had already fallen to at the turn of the year.
Prospects of victory were helped by the presence of some of the younger Vets with Messrs Danos, Ingram, Lederman, Warner and Hoffen R all available for selection.
The boggy nature of the Vets usual pitch saw the fixture switched to the far side of the playing fields and although the central areas were heavy, the ground was, in general, in good condition.
Unfortunately, this only served to help the visitors, whose first touch and passing ability was much superior to Harrow's. Tindall, for once, was blameless in the nets as the ball flew past him with some regularity.
Lancing scored four in either half but Harrow should have got themselves on the scoresheet a couple of times - unfortunately Rupert Hoffen, playing as a lone striker and helpfully wearing studless boots, fell over with his first chance then blazed over from five yards when on-looking four year-old Max Warner could have scored.
Still, it was a good run-out for the Vets who now have a break before the build-up to their Vets Plate quarter-final away to Repton on March 29th.
