Cup draws made for 1s, 2s and 3s

All three Saturday sides have recently learned who their upcoming opponents will be in their respective Cup competitions.

The OHAFC 1st XI face a daunting trip to face the Old Bradfieldians in the second round of the Arthur Dunn Cup on December 14th. The recent 3-1 win over the Old Ardinians saw the Blues reach the second round of the Dunn for the first time in five years but to advance to the quarter-finals Dan Firoozan's men will have to overcome a Premier Division side who have lost just once this season. The Bradfieldians sit in mid-table in the top flight but have played fewer games than any of their rivals.

Interestingly, however, the men from Berkshire only scraped through their first round tie away to the Old Westminsters, prevailing 3-2 after extra-time at Vincent Square, although the last time the two teams were in the same division things proved rather more one-sided: the Bradfieldians beat the OHAFC home and away in the Premier Division in 2021/22 by a combined score of 14-1.

The second round tie is slated to take place at Bradfield College with a kick-off time still to be confirmed at the time of writing.

The OHAFC 2nd XI have been handed an equally tough away tie in the second round of the Junior League Cup with a trip to face familiar rivals Old Merchant Taylors in Northwood.

The sides have regularly locked horns in the League over the past decade, with the OHAFC enjoying the better of things: in nine meetings across Divisions 2 and 3, the Blues have won 4 times, MTs three times and there have been two draws. Last season the teams drew 1-1 on the Hill before Christmas before the OHAFC won 5-3 in the return game - that defeat didn't derail Taylor's promotion hopes however and they have made a strong start to life in Division Two, sitting fourth at the time of writing.

Last season was the first time in five years the OHAFC 2s have failed to make it past the second round of the JLC when they suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Old Brentwoods 3s in mid-January.

Finally, the OHAFC 3s have discovered their opposition for both the Junior League Cup and the David Woolcott Trophy - the JLC is open to sides in Division Two and below, the DWT is only open to teams from Divisions Four and Five.

Rather boringly, the 3s have drawn opponents they will also play twice in the League this season with the Old Shirburnians - the JLC opposition - having recently been beaten on the Hill - and the Old Westminsters 2s - the DWT opponents - earning a 2-2 draw at Harrow when the sides met in early October. All three teams currently sit mid-table in Division Four so both ties should be hotly contested affairs.

Dates for the JLC and DWT ties will be announced in due course and added to the OHAFC fixture list when known.
