Bibs freshly washed - so who's coming training?
It was today confirmed by long-serving club kit man Mr Zanussi that for the first time in 2013 the OHAFC training bibs had been washed and were therefore in pristine condition ahead of Wednesday night's training session.
Often cited as one of the major factors behind the poor turnouts at the Harrow Club, the cleanliness of the red and yellow Sondico bibs has deteriorated in recent weeks to the extent that many players were forced to bring clothes pegs or play in 'skins' rather than identify themselves by use of a bib.
The reluctance of any member of the squad to take the bibs home and perform the simple task of putting the bibs in the washing machine before hanging them up to dry left Mr Zanussi shaking his head in disbelief when he was quizzed about the current situation earlier today:
"The young players of today don't realise how easy they have it. In my day we each used to have to bring our own bib home, hand wash it and then take it down to the fields to dry. And they weren't none of your modern lightweight materials neither...mine was made of sackcloth and scratched me hands something rotten when I scrubbed it."
Asked why he thought that modern players were so reluctant to look after their club bibs, Zanussi pondered thus: "I don't know. Nowadays the kids don't have time for bib preparation do they? They're too busy with them SP3's and Z-Box's aren't they?"
At this point our reporter made his excuses and left.
Training at the Harrow Club will commence at 7pm on Wednesday night, fresh bibs available on the door.
