Arthurian League season ended early due to COVID19
The Arthurian League have confirmed that the 2019/20 League season will be ended with immediate effect due to the ongoing Covid19 crisis.
Following guidance issued by the FA, all amateur Leagues will be curtailed, with no promotion or relegation imposed.
However, the Cup competitions fall outside of this mandate so there is still the possibility that this season's Arthur Dunn Cup, Junior League Cup and David Woolcott Trophy finals will be played at a later date.
The ending of the Arthurian League season means that the OHAFC 1st XI finish in 7th in the Premier Division. The 1s had actually completed all their fixtures and were guaranteed to end either 7th or 8th in the table.
The 2s will be disappointed they were unable to play their three remaining games, with a chance of a first ever runners-up spot in Division Two still very much a possibility. Indeed, despite the Carthusian 2s running away with the title, the battle for positions 2nd, 3rd and 4th was an exciting one, with four points separating Eton 2s in 2nd, the Old Rugbeians in 3rd and the OHAFC in 4th. It also means the Blues have yet to play a competitive League fixture against the Old Sennockians, with the two sides having yet to meet this season.
But the OHAFC 3s will be slightly relieved they no longer have to sweat on securing their place in Division Four. Despite a turbulent campaign, the Blues did well to haul themselves four points clear of the drop zone. Whilst unlikely, the Old Bancroftians could yet have clambered above the Blues with a favourable set of results from the final couple of games. That is no longer an issue.
Further details regarding the resumption of the League will be posted as soon as they become available.
