3s shock unbeaten Alleynians with incredible win
A new-look OHAFC 3rd XI side, led for the first time by Ed Nicholson, produced one of the most stunning upsets of this Arthurian League season when they defeated the previously unbeaten Old Alleynians 2s 2-0 on the Hill on Saturday afternoon. The result was put into context by the fact that when the sides had met just three weeks ago in Alleynians' home fixture, the hosts had won 10-2.
But a heroic display from the Blues in tough conditions on the Hill saw them overturn that result to hand their opponents their first defeat of the season. Goals from debutant Cameron Mahal and substitute Mikey Watford either side of the break secured the win, with the hosts battling throughout to nullify the Alleynian threat.
Mahal was one of three youngsters making their OHAFC debuts alongside Philip Richardson and Toby Colehan. The result was all the more remarkable for the fact that the side were unable to field a proper goalkeeper, Hugo Nicholson stepping in to help his brother out.
The amazing win helps lift the side up one place to fifth in Division Four, six points clear of the relegation places. Saturday's team sheet, match report and photos are now available in the results section here.
