3s just fail to topple league leaders Alleynians
The OHAFC 3rd XI narrowly failed in their bid to shock Division Four leaders the Old Alleynians 3s on Saturday afternoon, finally losing a titanic struggle 4-3 having twice led at 1-0 and 3-2.
In desperate conditions on the Hill, with a strong wind and driving rain lashing down, the hosts opened the scoring in bizarre fashion early on when a Tom Mitchell goal-kick sailed the length of the pitch before bouncing over his opposite number in the Alleynian goal and into the back of the net.
Alleynians responded with two goals of their own but Will Glover restored parity on the stroke of half-time to set up a battle royale after the interval.
The Blues retook the lead ten minutes into the half through substitute Karl Obi, but the visitors would not be denied and scored twice in the closing stages to snatch the points and leave the OHAFC still without a win this season. The Blues remain bottom of Division Four.
