3s finish with hard fought point at Forest
Old Foresters III 1 OHAFC III 1
A forgettable day in what has been an otherwise enjoyable and successful season saw the 3s head east on the Central Line to Fairlop - something of a baron wasteland that is soon to be added to the top 10 drabbest spots in London.
The opposition delayed kick off due to severely depleted numbers and finally kicked off with only 10 men. Harrow started brightly, testing the Forest defence that boasted a combined age of around 120. Adam Graham attacked down the left to great effect, creating chances for Smith and Turner, who was unable to convert a good ball into the box to great derision from the opposition.
Choice language was the order of the day, with Forest deciding their only route into the game was to try to get under the skin of the ragged OHs. This worked to a certain extent although their expletive-riddled rants at the referee were perhaps below the belt.
The football was unspectacular to say the least. A bobbling pitch led to a 'route one' style. However, in a moment of class, Graham took the ball well in the box and slotted past the keeper to open the scoring.
At half time the skipper gave his team a bit of a wake up call, warning of getting sloppy and complacent. It was to no avail as the side lagged in the second half, only staying ahead due to two smart saves from Chas McHardy.
On 75 minutes, the Achilles Heel once again reared its head. A good delivery from a set piece was whipped into the box and met with a header that looped agonisingly into the net. The response was muted and the hour and a half trip home was long.
A shame after such a great season but the draw was enough to cement third place in the league.
