3s denied Division Five title at the death
The OHAFC 3rd XI were denied the Division Five championship in cruel circumstances when a last-minute goal earned the Old Columbans a 2-1 win at Merchant Taylor's School on Saturday.
With both sides already promoted to Division Four, silverware was the prize on offer to the winners and Columbans took the lead on the half-hour.
Harrow replied ten minutes into the second half when Alex Smith added to his impressive tally for the season with a deflected shot following a neat build up.
But with extra-time looming, Columbans snatched victory, a cross from their left was swept in first-time from the edge of the box. There was still time for Harrow to create a golden chance for an equaliser, Tommy Faber being sent clean through with just the keeper to beat in injury time. Sadly, the Columbans' goalie made a superb save to send the trophy back to St Albans.
Despite the defeat, the OHAFC 3s have enjoyed a superb season, culminating in promotion to Division Four.
