3rd XI end of season dinner at Bodeans

2 Jun 2015

On Thursday 21st May the 3's gathered to celebrate their season with a dinner at Bodeans in Soho. It was a very well attended evening and probably the first time all season that a full squad was available for selection.

Alec Fogarty had done a sterling job booking the table and organising the set menu which solely included platters of BBQ'd meat and jugs of beer - not surprisingly there wasn't a complaint from anyone. As the meat sweats began to kick in, Pom Beeley and Ed Page decided to give a quick annual rendition of "My Girl" which was shortly followed by an awards ceremony presented by skipper Harry Turner.

Nick Kapoor was awarded the Player of the Season - he really has made that right back position his own and the Club are thoroughly looking forward to seeing how he develops in it. It must be mentioned that he was lucky to be present to collect the award after getting chatted up by most of the male patrons in the pub he attended pre-Bodeans.

Other awards were presented:

  • Most Prep School Comment of the Season Award went to Turner himself with, "pick on someone your own size" (aimed at the Old Foresters 'keeper)
  • Biggest 'Thanks For Coming' Award: Benji Sewell - who managed not to touch the ball once in a whole game vs Old Cholmeleians
  • Worst Dressed Player: Chuka Ilogu - not being able to fit into any of the kit that was provided all season
  • Weirdest Moment: James Gallagher deciding to streak around the Sevenoaks changing rooms
  • Worst Moment: Luke Faber - for forgetting to turn off his car lights and radio during the game at Bancroft and having to wait all evening for the AA. It's safe to say Smith, Kapoor and Faber did not get lucky in Mare Motos that evening!

After Bodeans the team progressed onto El Bario Central and this is where everyone's memory of what happened next got a little hazy...

A big thank you must be given to firstly Turner and Fogarty for organising the team throughout the season - certainly no easy task and is greatly appreciated by all. Secondly, thanks must be given to the Club for not only organising all the fixtures, teas and pitches but also for kindly making a generous donation to the 3s dinner.
