2s relegated despite final day victory
The OHAFC 2nd XI were relegated in cruel fashion on the final weekend of the Arthurian League season despite a superb 3-0 win over the Old Sennockians on the Harrow School astroturf.
Two headers from Max Curry and a third from Miles Kellock earned the Blues a fine victory to finish their season with and, temporarily at least, haul themselves out of the relegation zone prior to the result of the Old Aldenhamians trip to face league leaders the Old Radleians.
The only way the 2s could be relegated was by a highly unlikely Aldenham win, with the Radleians chasing a win that would seal the Division Two title. But that is exactly what happened, the visitors from north London somehow prevailing 4-2 to snatch salvation and send the OHAFC 2s and Sennockians down into Division Three, whilst simultaneously denying the Radleians the title.
The 2s end their season with 18 points from their eighteen League games played, having won five and drawn three and finish ninth, a point above the Sennockians but, crucially, a point below the Aldenhamians – who, bizarrely, ended the season with four consecutive wins having amassed just seven points from their previous fourteen matches.
The final team sheet and match report of the OHAFC season are now available in the results section with reviews of all three Saturday teams’ seasons to come.
