2s recover from defensive howlers to earn a point
The OHAFC 2nd XI had to be content with a point on Saturday following an extraordinary Division Two fixture away to KCS Wimbledon Old Boys 2s on the astroturf in Wandsworth.
Playing into a strong wind in the first half, the Blues weathered the initial period well before committing two absolute howlers at the back: first, Harry Woolley missed his kick when attempting a clearance allowing the Wimbledon striker a clear run on goal; minutes later, David Lederman committed an even more crass misjudgement when he allowed a poorly-hit shot to roll through his legs on the line - the veteran, for some unknown reason, thought the ball was going wide.
Despite these two errors proving the difference between the teams at the break, the visitors took just two minutes of the second half to claw themselves back on level terms, Cyprian Owen-Edmunds running onto a flick from Alexi Pittalis to make it 2-1 before Pittalis himself nodded in from a yard out following a goalmouth scramble.
But the Blues could not force a winner in the remainder of the half and so had to settle for a point that leaves them seventh in the Division Two standings.
