2s produce heroic effort to beat Westminsters

29 Jan 2018

The OHAFC 2nd XI produced comfortably their best performance of the season to beat an excellent Westminsters team 1-0 on the Hill on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts played with the wind in the first half and enjoyed marginally the better of things. But a goal before the break appeared unlikely until, with the final attack before the interval, veteran midfielder David Lederman collected a clearance on the edge of the box, beat two men on the outside and squeezed a left-foot shot in at the near post via a slight deflection.

The second half was a totally different story however, as the visitors laid siege to the Harrow goal. The Blues grimly hung on courtesy of some heroic defending and the odd slice of luck and had chances themselves to make the game safe without managing to do so.

The final whistle was greeted with scenes of jubilation but Geoff Taunton-Collins' men still have a mountain to climb if they are to avoid relegation back into Division Three.
