2s fall just short yet again

13 Nov 2017

The OHAFC 2nd XI suffered another defeat by just a solitary goal on Saturday as an excellent second-half comeback away to the Old Radleians fell just short, the Blues losing 3-2 on astroturf in Twickenham.

The visitors made a poor start to the game and were 3-0 down inside half an hour, Radley looking the sharper, hungrier team.

An injury to a Radleian at the start of the second half reduced the hosts to ten men and Harrow took full advantage, dominating the remainder of the game. Alex Smith pulled one back with a neat finish from Charlie Bick's through-ball and a low cross from skipper Geoff Taunton-Collins then forced an own goal.

Despite continuing to create chances in the closing stages, the Blues couldn't quite force the third goal necessary, condemning the side to their fifth single-goal defeat in seven games.

The team remain ninth in Division Two with only Lancing's second string below them. There is little to separate the five teams in the bottom half of the table however, so the visit of Forest 2s to the Hill next week remains a vital fixture.
