2s earn a solid point at Chigs on opening day
The OHAFC 2nd XI began their 2020/21 League campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to the Old Chigwellians 2s on Saturday afternoon.
In a game of few chances, the visitors took the lead after twenty minutes when centre-half Tom Ward rose highest to head home a David Lederman corner. Chigs responded well however, levelling prior to the break courtesy of a well-worked move down their right-hand side that ended with the ball being crossed into the box and a close-range finish applied.
Neither side came close to snatching the win in the second half, although the OHAFC enjoyed the better of things. The Harrow 2s now face another trip north with a visit to Merchant Taylors for their second fixture of the season.
Meanwhile, the OHAFC 3rd XI began their season in disastrous fashion when they suffered a humiliating 12-0 defeat at home Cholms 2s on the Harrow School astroturf. The Blues were undone by a series of injuries both prior to and during the game that left them playing the final half an hour with only nine men. Cholms took full advantage to run up a cricket score and inflict the heaviest ever defeat on an OHAFC side in a competitive fixture.
