2s cruise into JLC semi-finals
The OHAFC 2nd XI cruised into the semi-finals of the Junior League Cup with a surprisingly comfortable 6-0 victory over the Old Eastbournians at Barn Elms on Saturday afternoon.
The first half saw the expected tight, scrappy football the poor pitches in southwest London are prone to produce. But having survived a couple of minor scares, the visitors took control with two goals in the fifteen minutes prior to the break: Max Curry fired home superbly from the edge of the box before Alexi Pittalis headed home from a yard out following a bout of head tennis inside the Eastbournians penalty area.
The second half meandered along unspectacularly until the closing half-hour, when a tiring Eastbournians side found themselves opened up on a regular basis. Max Curry headed in a third, Tristan David scored the fourth, before Gbeminiyi Soyinka produced two fine finishes, one with his head, to round off the scoring.
The Blues now face Division Three side the Old Columbans for a place in this season's final, with the game set to be played on the Hill in a fortnight's time.
