2s continue fine run with 1-1 draw at Charterhouse
The OHAFC 2nd XI continued their excellent recent run of form with a second consecutive draw away to the Old Carthusians on Saturday afternoon.
Having drawn 2-2 with Charterhouse 2s a fortnight ago, the Harrow second string travelled to Godalming knowing that a win against the 3rd XI would go a long way to ensuring their survival in Division Two come the end of the season.
And the visitors were given the perfect start when they were awarded a penalty barely ninety seconds into the game, a Carthusian defender penalised for bundling over Doug Morrison. Lederman safely tucked away the spot-kick.
Both sides had chances in an open and entertaining first half, with Alhadeff, Payne and Morrison at the heart of Harrow's best attacks. At the other end, the two Curry brothers, Max and Ollie, both had to make vital interventions inside the box to prevent an equaliser.
But just as the first half had started perfectly for the Blues, the second half did so disastrously. Straight from the kick-off Charterhouse forced a corner on the right and it was bundled in from close range following a near post flick on.
Harrow resisted considerable pressure for fifteen minutes and as the game wore on began to create chances of their own, with Gbeminiyi Soyinka and Jack Alhadeff both spurning glorious opportunities to win it.
In the end, the draw was a fair result but it leaves both sides still in trouble in the wrong half of the table. The OHAFC have three League games remaining but their attention now reverts back to the Junior League Cup with a tricky away trip to Citizens in the quarter-finals next week.
